Our esteemed Rivard by Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals guests come to visit one of our fine properties primarily to relax on the beautiful beach and luxuriate in the glowing jewel toned waters of the glittering Gulf. This is not a surprise at all since the sugary-white crystal sand reflects sunlight making it cool to the touch and lights up microscopic natural plankton in the water with dazzling colors of emerald green and turquoise. Most of our homes and condos are right on the Gulf or very nearby.
What can make a beach vacation even more pleasurable is having access to a refreshing swimming pool if one is available in the community or especially if there is a private one right outside the back door. We are pleased to present four great vacation homes that have just that! All of them are located in the unique Blue Mountain Beach residential village on Scenic 30A. What makes this place special is that it happens to have the highest elevation anywhere on the entire Gulf of Mexico. It got its name from Spanish explorers who mapped the coastline of Florida from far offshore back in the 1500s. From that distance, they thought they saw “blue mountains” bordering a “beach” and mapped it as “Azul Montana la Playa” (Blue Mountain Beach) which was translated into English years later. What they actually saw were towering hills covered with indigenous Blue Lupine flowers that were in full bloom. The forested hills here rise almost seventy feet above the gulf and resemble mountains from afar compared to the relatively flat elevations beside it. The beaches here have been noted to be one of the most beautiful shorelines in the nation!

On Point

On Point is a four bedroom vacation home with a private pool is able to host the largest number of guests on our list, accommodating a total of sixteen happy guests with multiple beds, a daybed, a trundle, a futon along with a queen sized sleeper sofa. It’s perfect for a big beach reunion with a separate two story guest house featuring an open living area, kitchen, and a bar, providing separate quarters for six members of your group. It is about a two to three minute stroll away from the gulf and complimentary beach service is conveniently provided. The regal swimming pool out back has a nice patio with lounge chairs and is partially shaded by lovely Live Oak trees on one side. This setting was made for entertainment as the other side of the pool has a wet bar with four stools and a big gas grill for poolside wining and dining. Right beside it is a stone gas fire pit that can be used on chilly evenings. It’s flanked by tropically inspired cushioned furnishings with an outdoor couch and two chairs. The handsomely furnished living area and open kitchen with another bar are steps away from the pool for added entertainment convenience.
About Time at Redfish

This enchanting Old Florida styled lakefront home known as About Time at Redfish is three stories tall with five bedrooms and sleeps fourteen privileged guests. It has a serene lakefront setting with its own dock on Big Redfish Lake. This rare coastal dune lake is surrounded by forests and filled with artisan spring-fed waters that feed to an estuary connecting across the dunes to the gulf. This creates a magical mixture of water with ongoing tidal action that supports an abundant habitat for wildlife, waterfowl, and a wide array of fish. The angled swimming pool beside the house overlooks this magnificent scenery and has a raised connected hot tub for pampered relaxation that spills down into the pool. A gas grill is available for fun poolside cookouts. This home has a convenient bonus open living area on the first floor with a kitchenette, wet bar, microwave, and mini refrigerator for poolside drinks. This room leads to the expansive paver-tiled deck that surrounds a large swimming pool which is also accessible from the second floor. A rooftop observation deck with a covered pavilion centered on a fire pit overlooks the pool patio and forested lake.
Playa Azul

The aptly named Playa Azul is a regal and stately white three-story Mediterranean-styled vacation home that has a pool and four bedrooms with multiple beds, bunks, and a sleeper sofa allowing for the ability to accommodate twelve fortunate guests. This palatial home is in a prime location only an arrow’s shot away from the main beach access and steps away from its own private refreshing pool. You can go from taking a plunge in the pool to splashing around in the glorious gulf in a little over one minute. The pool patio is studded with tropical palm trees and other indigenous flora. It has lounge chairs and an umbrella table with five chairs for wonderful wining and dining poolside. A gas grill is provided to tempt you to create your own fun version of a ‘Surf n Turf’ delight.
Sandy by the Sea

Called Sandy by the Sea, this charming three-story home with four bedrooms has multiple beds and a full size sleeper sofa and can accommodate a dozen carefree guests. You may also bring your favorite furry family member since this home is also pet-friendly. It is located in the heart of the village, steps away from the ice cream parlor and a three to four minute walk away from the bright beach. This home comes with four complimentary bicycles providing even quicker access. When you see the golden Americana styled home with a lovely wraparound columned veranda, an upper balcony, and a screen porch you won’t expect to find a swimming pool outback. However, you will discover a curvy lagoon-shaped pool surrounded by a paverstone patio with lounge chairs for sunny relaxation. A stylish floating canopy off to one side provides shade on a hot summer day. Tables are available for poolside entertainment and a gas grill is provided for fun cookouts.
The coastal village of Blue Mountain Beach is mostly residential with a charming almost Bohemian-type atmosphere and home to some local artists. It features a few popular local restaurants with lively bars, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, a wonderful bakery, and Walton County’s oldest health food store. The hip shop called “For the Health of It” features organic produce, smoothies, homeopathic remedies, and massage therapy. This locale is only a few minutes away from other picturesque coastal villages in each direction. The iconic Seaside towards the east has restaurants, beach bars, boutiques, specialty shops, galleries, fun festivals, live concerts in their outdoor amphitheater, and fireworks on special holidays. The nationally acclaimed Santa Rosa Beach coastal village center of Gulf Place towards the west also has a large palm-lined outdoor amphitheater bordered by restaurants with friendly bars, boutiques, specialty shops, and galleries. It also hosts outdoor concerts and seasonal festivities and is home to many art venues, especially from spring to fall.
