Baytowne Memorial Day Weekend
The festivities begin in the Village of Baytowne Wharf, a quaint seaside community that is a cross between a fishing village and a New Orleans marketplace, on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Enjoy the boardwalk with its host of shops, restaurants, and bars and catch the live music every evening from 7-9 pm. On Sunday, May 27, the Events Plaza comes alive with Kids’ Night and plenty of family friendly activities from games to face painting. Monday night the Village puts on a Memorial program at sunset (~7pm) followed by a spectacular fireworks show at 9:15pm.
Destin Harbor Memorial Day Weekend Concert Celebration
For more live music, be sure to check out the goings on in Destin (the northern stretch of Hwy 30A). Destin Harbor will host live music on Saturday (The Good Lookings, 7-9pm) and Sunday (DEPARTURE: The Journey Tribute Band), with fireworks and fire spinning from Just Add Fire to follow after sundown on Sunday. Before the show you can check out the shops and restaurants of Harbor Walk Village, go for a chartered fishing expedition, or even take a cruise on a pirate ship!
Sinfonia of Sound
To add some panache to your Memorial Day, visit the annual Sinfonia Goes Pops concert under the coconut palms at the Alys Beach Amphitheater on Sunday, May 27, 2018 (7:30-9:30pm). Bring a blanket or a low-backed beach chair and enjoy the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra perform some of your favorite pop tunes as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico. The concert is free to the public (food and beverages are available for purchase) and is followed by fireworks.
33rd Annual Eglin Memorial Day Run
A holiday tradition, this competitive but relaxed race is open to the public and great for all ages and skill levels. Register for base access before May 3 and register your team by May 12, then come out for a great morning of fitness and fun on Memorial Day, May 28 at 7am. The course covers 4.4-miles across Eglin AFB. At 9am there is a free kids’ run at the starting line, with no registration required. All participants get a free t-shirt, and winners get awesome awards!
