It’s the 20th anniversary of the Mountainfilm on Tour at WaterColor!
The Mountainfilm documentary film festival is hosted each year on Memorial Day in Telluride, Colorado. Its mission is to use the power of “film, art, and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.” The festival features extraordinary documentaries and films, as well as interactive talks, community events, presentations, and other activities. After the spirited festival, Mountainfilm on Tour travels to communities around the world to share the awesomeness. And every year, WaterColor is lucky to be one of those Mountainfilm on Tour destinations.
Typically, the Mountainfilm on Tour at WaterColor event is located at the Marina Park Amphitheater, where festival fans enjoy an evening of short films, food, and drink underneath the stars. Due to circumstances, this year’s event will be slightly different—but just as exciting!
This year, the Mountainfilm event will be held at WaterSound Origins with a drive-in movie format. Talk about a fun throwback! The drive-in format will enable viewers to catch the festival film lineup in an intimate and safe environment. The films will be debuted on the 9th hole at Origins Golf Course on Friday, November 6 at 6:30 pm. Audio access will be provided via car radios. Viewers are expected to remain in their cars for the duration of the 2.5-hour program, and no lawn seating will be permitted. Be sure to bring your own snacks and drinks, as none will be provided at the event.
In this fun, drive-in movie format, festival-goers will get to enjoy the incredible lineup of this year’s films. Each year, Mountainfilm introduces a powerhouse of inspiring, artsy, and educational films, and this year is no exception. It includes a great mix of action-packed flicks and pivotal documentaries. Think: eye-opening environmental features. Epic adventure stories that led to finding purpose. Personal accounts about overcoming seemingly impossible odds. Seriously, the lineup is awe-inspiring. To be sure, the program is going to be well worth your time. And even better because you can enjoy from the comfort of your own vehicle with your favorite people!
Tickets are $30/car and can be purchased online.
Additionally, the 2020 program will also be made available virtually. Free of charge! If the drive-in style isn’t your thing (or you just prefer your home theater), this is a great way to go. You must purchase your complimentary virtual tickets before midnight on November 5. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, you will receive an Eventgroove link. You will have a 48-hour window in which to watch the films (9 am on November 6 to 9 am on November 8).
Festival fans should also know that there are limited-edition Mountainfilm on Tour at WaterColor shirts available online. There will also be a limited number available for purchase at the WaterColor store. Show off your love for film and a memorable event with one of these fun shirts.
While the format of this year’s Mountainfilm on Tour at WaterColor looks different from previous years, it is going to be just as memorable. With such amazing films created by talented filmmakers, how could it not be? As for us, we can’t wait to see these films!
